Pope Benedict XVI Resignation Draws Church Crisis
The Roman Catholic Church in crisis?
The first Papal resignation after 598 years has brought a lot of noise around the world. This comes after Pope Benedict XVI also known as the former Cardinal Joseph Alois Ratzinger has announced to resign as the Top Leader of the Vatican rumored to have health concerns. However, Vatican history experts and other reference made it a point that the resignation has nothing to do with the Pope’s health.
Pope Benedict XVI who was born in Bavaria, Germany on April 16 1927 is now 85 years old.
Church observers believe that the said announcement has drawn activity of factionalism inside the Vatican which may come into a leadership crisis. However, there is no further reports on how the faction has been affecting the daily routine of the Roman Catholic Church leadership.
According to reports by other agencies, Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation is a retirement process after the 85 year-old Pope showed increased public sign of fatigue during the recent months.
The Pope will continue to be the leader of the Roman Catholic Church until he officially steps down on February 28, 2013 which day is also coincidentally the feast day of a 5th Century Pope, Saint Hilarius.
